A Partnership with the Novi Public Library

An innovative new partnership, the Chamber Music Society of Detroit, Novi Public Library, Friends of the Novi Public Library, Nordstrom, Evola Music, Tom Holzer Ford and Comerica present Listen @ The Library - a series of free family concerts performed by internationally acclaimed artists in the heart of the Novi community. These performances are informal and interactive, introducing audiences to chamber music in an entertaining and engaging way and providing an opportunity to meet and speak with the artists.

Winner of the 2012 CMA Cleveland Quartet Award, the Jasper String Quartet is the Ensemble-in-Residence at Classic Chamber Concerts in Naples, Florida and were awarded a 2012 grant from Chamber Music America through its Residency Partnership Program.

Justin Hines, Percussion

As an educator, demonstrator, and workshop leader both in New York City and abroad, Justin has written and performed percussion demonstrations for the New York Philharmonic, the Brooklyn Philharmonic, the New Jersey Symphony, the St. Louis Symphony, the New World Symphony, and the Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center.

Winner of the Concert Artists Guild International Competition and Graduate Quartet-in-Residence at Yale University, the Linden Quartet is one of this nation's most exciting up-and-coming ensembles.

Since its founding in 2008, the Aeolus String Quartet has won prizes in nearly every major chamber music competition in the U.S. Most recently it took home the 2012 John Lad prize in recognition of its “high level of musicianship....the passion, the dedication, and the great generosity of spirit they have demonstrated.” This exciting young ensemble will be in town for two weeks visiting schools and presenting a student concert webcast as part of the Chamber Music Society’s education program. Piano Showcase
Performances of music by Haydn and Schumann by pianists Hee Jung Yoo from Michigan State University and Michal Harris from the University of Michigan. Ms. Yoo and Ms. Harris were among the young pianists selected to participate in a master class given on Friday, December 14 by a legendary pianist and teacher, Menahem Pressler. Yamaha grand piano provided by Evola Music.

Piffaro: The Renaissance Band
Piffaro re-creates the rustic music of the peasantry as well as the elegant sounds of the official, professional wind bands of the late Medieval and Renaissance periods. Instrument Petting Zoo
Visitors will be able to touch, learn about and try out musical instruments. There will be a family concert immediately following this event at Novi High School by the woodwind quintet Windscape.
