Artistic Director and harpsichordist Andrew Appel joins Steve Wogaman for a discussion of Bach’s Brandenburg Concertos and Cantata No. 51.

Well-known through their popular annual concert series in Merkin Concert Hall in New York, the Four Nations Ensemble and its founder, harpsichordist Andrew Appel, have assembled a truly all-star cast of early music specialists especially for the CMSD’s 75th season.  Together, they will give a Metro Detroit-only performance of five of J.S. Bach’s six Brandenburg Concertos along with the popular Cantata No. 51 for trumpet, soprano and strings.

Carrying the CMSD’s new December “Holiday Baroque” tradition into its second season, this special ensemble’s extraordinary musicians have appeared in concerts and on recordings with the leading early music ensembles of the world, including Musica Antigua Koln, the English Consort, Boston Camerata and Apollo's Fire.
