Featured in the Four Nations Ensemble's memorable 2018 performance of the J.S. Bach Brandenburg Concertos, the Dutch master baroque cellist Jaap Ter Linden returns to continue the CMSD's Holiday Baroque tradition in 2019. His traversal of J.S. Bach's complete six cello suite for Harmonia Mundi set a new standard for performance as Bach himself would have heard them.
When the young American violinist Randall Goosby performed with the New York Philharmonic on a Young People’s Concert at Avery Fisher Hall at the age of thirteen, The New York Times raved that he “exerted a masterly level of control and lavished an exquisite tone…his performance won him a deserved standing ovation for its sheer virtuosity.”
The 2018 Cleveland Quartet Award-winning Rolston String Quartet will make their CMSD debut performing two beloved favorites of the quartet repertoire, Mozart’s “Dissonance” Quartet and Schubert’s “Death and the Maiden” Quartet. Completing the program is a neo-Baroque dance suite by early 20th-century Czech-born composer Erwin Schulhoff.
