2019-2020 Oakland Series
Now entering a 7th consecutive season, the Chamber Music Society Oakland Series presents a series of four spectacular concerts on the campus of Oakland University in Rochester Hills, the result of a partnership with OU’s School of Music, Theatre and Dance that also provides opportunities for OU music students to interact with CMSD artists. This season starts with a bang with the Juilliard String Quartet in their third visit to OU sine the partnership began. A concert by the inimatable Imani Winds follows, joined by pianist Tian Tian - an Oakland University music faculty member. In January, the Gryphon Trio bring the third of their three concerts with the complete Beethoven piano trios (#1 and #2 are in Grosse Pointe and Canton); OU faculty member George Stoffen even joins the trio for Op. 11 in its original version for clarinet. The series concludes with the Vera Quartet and pianist Meng-Chieh Liu on tour from the renowned Curtis Institute of Music.
